RoboStar PhD Opportunities

Are you a UK applicant looking for a fully-funded PhD opportunity in robotics?

RoboStar, a world-leading centre of excellence for software engineering for robotics, is seeking postgraduate researchers for three exciting new projects starting in September 2025:

• Autonomous Robots for Manipulating Hazardous Substances (jointly funded with UK Atomic Energy Authority/RACE)
• Automated Field Testing with Humans in the Loop of an Autonomous UAV for Emergency Relief (Jointly funded by UKRI and Thales)
• Simulation with Humans in the Loop of an Autonomous UAV for Emergency Relief(Jointly funded by UKRI and Thales)

If you are interested in robotics, and have strong programming and software engineering skills, one of these projects could be for you. The successful candidates will be based in the Department of Computer Science at the University of York, and will collaborate closely with industry.
